Saadiyat Island is being developed to be a tourism-cultural project for nature and Emirati heritage and culture. The project, under development, consists of a large, low-lying island, 500 meters off the coast of Abu Dhabi. Mixed commercial, residential, and leisure projects are currently under construction on the island, expected to be completed in 2020. Saadiyat Island is expected to become Abu Dhabi’s cultural center, mostly for The Island’s Cultural District that is expected to include eight museums designed by architects such as Jean Nouvel, Tadao Ando, Frank Gehry and Zaha Hadid to make it the center piece of Abu Dhabi’s future cultural offering.
