    • While some choose a long-term hold strategy, the majority choose to develop the land banks.
    • In many cases, the individual and/or family may have a real estate company involved in investments or property management, or sometimes building contracting; however, a full-fledged real estate development company does not always exist within the group holding.
    • Therefore, the individual or family office must often plan and execute the development project without the diverse skill set that an established real estate development company possesses.
    • Given the increasing competition, diversification and regulatory real estate environment as the UAE’s real estate market matures, undertaking a development project without the services and resources of trained development professionals carries significant risk and often prohibits the project from reaching the individual or family offices’ goals and objectives, both financially and reputational.

Across the MENA, many businesses are open to risk from loss events such as fire damage and even flooding. In the case of such an event, the company will rely on their insurer to pay the full amount necessary to rebuild and replace losses in a timely manner so as to minimise the impact on profits. A quick and full payout at this time will enable the business to resume trading and remain solvent, however, if the assets aren’t well documented, the loss adjuster may delay payment until they can ascertain what the assets were, and what condition they were in before the loss event occurred. These types of delays can prove fatal to a business. Download Report

Every business owner or senior manager should be aware and concerned at the losses that can be sustained by a business when things go wrong. Losses, both physical and financial, have the ability to cause enough damage to a business that it is forced to close its doors. While insurance generally can’t prevent the aforementioned loss event, it can ensure that the business can rebuild physically in a timeframe short enough to enable financial recovery. Download Report
